Research Objectives

Francis is a Masters of Geographic Information Systems (MGIS) candidate at the University of Calgary. He joined the Department of Geography and the Foothills Facility for Remote Sensing and GIScience in 2009 and is a researcher on the HEAT (Home Energy Assessment Technologies) project under the supervision of Dr. Geoffrey Hay. His research involves development of ArcObject tool-sets for evaluating and monitoring residential heat loss within the City of Calgary. His research addresses the growing concern of enhancing home energy efficiency with minimal environmental impact by partnering with target industries and municipalities.

Francis also has technical expertise in the areas of advanced geo-spatial applications, 3D imaging / modeling, advanced raster / vector data analysis, geo-visualization techniques, relational database management systems and ArcObjects development through VBA and Python scripting.
